Celebrating 30 years together: Namex Jubilee at Rome’s City Hall

Namex proudly celebrated the 30th anniversary of NAP ROMA, the Internet Exchange point of Rome, at the historic protomoteca hall of Rome’s City Hall on April 15, 2025.

This special occasion was an emotional gathering where members took a moment to reflect, reconnect, and recognize the incredible achievements made possible through three decades of collaboration.

During the celebration, Namex honored 11 pioneers whose fundamental contributions were instrumental to the birth and growth of Rome’s Internet exchange point.
From pioneering individuals who envisioned a neutral and collaborative Internet exchange during the early stages of Italy’s digital landscape, to today’s vibrant consortium boasting 180 member companies and 260 connected networks, Namex has always maintained its original vision and community spirit. Today, Namex manages over 1 terabit of Internet traffic daily, playing a crucial role in Italy’s digital infrastructure and positioning itself among the top 10% of the most performing Internet Exchange Points worldwide.

The event included institutional greetings from Monica Lucarelli, councilor for productive activities and equal opportunities of the municipality of Rome, Paolo Aielli, general director of Roma Capitale, and Lorenzo Marinone, City councilor. A roundtable discussion on the evolution of the Internet in Italy over the last 30 years followed, featuring distinguished participants including Massimiliano Capitanio (AGCOM Commissioner), Prof. Maurizio Decina (Politecnico di Milano), Renato Brunetti (Namex president), Paolo Nuti (AIIP Co-founder and former president), and Enzo Valente (former GARR director).

As CEO Maurizio Goretti summed up during the ceremony: “In these thirty years, we haven’t just built infrastructure, we’ve built a community.”
