The wonderful region of Marche, on the west side of the Italian peninsula, has a beautiful compound of green hills, wild beaches and incredibile mountains. However, sometimes these awesome lands have a major issue: the total lack of connectivity.
It is in this context that in 2009 NetoIP was born, with the goal of bringing the Internet where there was no infrastructure. To date, it has a national backbone with 3 main pops (Ancona, Milan, Rome), 7 Access POPs (Reggio Calabria, Messina, Enna, Sassari, Civitanova Marche, Jesi, Recanati, TOP-IX), interconnected with 10 Gbps circuits and 250 km of proprietary fiber.
After their foundation, NetoIP created a network of 120 radio POPs and in 2015 it became officially a data operator, telephone operator (OP-ID 350) and Air Time Reseller for mobile. In 2019 they also obtained the authorizations to create their own fiber optic networks.
One of their latest successes has been the creation of a proprietary fiber optic network in the Portonovo Bay in Ancona. The competency of NetoIP was essential to solve a complicated situation that, due to the high costs, discouraged the investments. After 6 years of negotiations with private and public entities, the network is finally up and running and it has started serving companies in April 2021.
Namex has been a crucial element for the completion of their national backbone, a fundamental point for accessing Central and Southern Italy and their main core network ring.
In the upcoming future, NetoIP will be expanding their network, completing the wiring of Porto Sant’Elpidio (FM), Monte Urano (FM), Borgo San Lorenzo (FI), Porto Recanati (AN), fractions of Ancona and Enna (EN).
