January Update

Last month (December), Namex recorded a significant milestone in Internet traffic. During a recent UEFA Champions League match between Juventus and Man City, broadcast exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, a peak of 972 Gbps was reached. This result highlights the growing impact of live event streaming and Namex infrastructure’s ability to efficiently handle increasingly higher traffic volumes.

Among the significant data, a new record was also set for IPv6 traffic, with a peak of 35 Gbps, surpassing the previous maximum recorded during another major sporting event. This milestone reflects the gradual adoption of IPv6, a protocol that is becoming essential to meet the growing needs of the digital ecosystem.

On occasions like these, the rapid growth of traffic handled by Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) highlights the importance of a robust and well-structured network. Thanks to its advanced infrastructure, Namex ensures reliable and high-quality streaming experiences, even during peak usage periods.

Sporting events are among the main drivers of Internet traffic, and the growing popularity of streaming has made it essential to have infrastructures capable of supporting large volumes of simultaneous connections. Namex plays a central role in this ecosystem, offering a strategic interconnection point for network operators, streaming platforms, and content providers, improving the speed and efficiency of data distribution.

This milestone demonstrates Namex’s ability to successfully meet the demands of an evolving market, consolidating its role in supporting the Italian digital ecosystem. With the continuous growth of traffic and the expansion of streaming usage, Namex remains committed to investing in innovation to ensure high performance and scalability, preparing for future traffic peaks.

An interesting fact during the holiday season: around midnight on December 31st, there’s a noticeable drop in the traffic graph, which coincides with the moment of toasts and celebrations. This sudden decrease reflects people’s tendency to put aside digital devices to focus on offline festivities: toasting, hugging friends and family, and exchanging greetings. Shortly after, traffic quickly rises again as people flood social networks with greetings, photos, and videos, creating a new peak in network activity.

We will continue to closely monitor these developments, with the aim of supporting an increasingly performant Internet capable of meeting the needs of millions of connected users. Stay tuned to the Namex Observatory for further updates and insights into the world of connectivity.
