Throwback to the Namex Annual Meeting

We had 470 attendees in Rome from 256 companies. The conference in Rome was a resounding success, as well as the workoshop session that was completely sold out. Microsoft connected cache active at Namex Bari

Namex Bari, active since spring 2022, continues to grow and to expand its ecosystem. Since the arrival of the first national carriers, the number of networks and services present has grown steadily, as has the number of small local operators has been rising quite fast.

Namex opens its fourth PoP: Claudius

The expansion and consolidation of Namex IXP in Rome continues. We have activated our new site, Claudius, within Cloud Europe’s EUROPE’s campus at the Tecnopolo Tiburtino.

AN UPCOMING DATACENTER

During NAM 2023 we announced an agreement with Aruba to open a Namex PoP within the upcoming Aruba HyperCloud datacenter in Rome.
The new PoP, named “Adriano” will allow to expand the Roman hub’s offerings, coping with the rising demand of new installations.

LACNIC 39 - IXPs & live streaming

Our CTO took part in a panel at LACNIC 39 discussing the impact of live streaming on Internet providers and IXPs.

ANNUAL REPORT 2022

Namex achieved 200+ networks, 15% growth in 2022, with 50% traffic surge.
We opened a new edge IXP in Naples and Bari hit 12 connected networks, with 3 Gbps peak. Revenues grew by 24% in 2022; Namex is using the surpluses  to mitigate energy crisis costs for all its members.

RMNOG BEERS

#RMNOG, is an informal meeting between colleagues from the ITNOG – Italian Network Operators Group community, was held in Rome.
The event is held monthly in Rome, every third week of the month, with the aim of having a moment of informal aggregation between technicians and entrepreneurs from the Rome area and southern Italy.

NEW SUBMARINE CABLES

The Ionian submarine cable  landed in Crotone and BlueMed reached the coast near Rome. The Mediterrean is changing and Italy is preparing for a new pivotal role for digital infrastructures.
